Ammerhurst Limited has been established for over 30 years and
is an accredited member of the Guild of Keycutters within the Master Locksmiths
Association.
Ammerhurst was originally conceived as a solution for a locker
company's after sales service problem. They had sold the lockers and inevitably
customers would lose their locker keys and need replacements, often as a matter
of urgency. The company wanted to provide a good after sales service but it
was geared up to supply large quantities of lockers, not a few replacement keys
from a potential choice of thousands of different key numbers.
Instead of trying to solve the problem themselves the locker company
would simply put the customer in touch with Ammerhurst who were set up specifically
to supply the relevant keys quickly and efficiently.
Various other furniture manufacturers also realised this need
and gradually Ammerhurst built up a reputation of providing a fast and accurate
service for replacement keys and locks for all types of furniture. Ammerhurst
now has a loyal customer base of over 9,000 customers ranging from the largest
blue chip companies to private individuals and from sectors as diverse as schools,
swimming pools, banks, hospitals, food companies, department stores, offices,
actually anywhere that has things which need to be kept locked.
Just before the millennium the company was taken over by Simon
Style, who has injected a whole new approach. Coming from a background as finance
director in the high-tec industry, Simon has brought with him the experience
of being a customer who needed problems solved fast. He also realised that the
future was going to be online, not that you need to be a dotcom company, rather
that if your normal business is to survive and thrive, it must be able to handle
e-commerce as a crucial addition to the current methods of trading.
With new systems and processes to provide a more efficient service,
with more staff to provide advice and assistance and with more products available
than ever before Ammerhurst has positioned itself to be a major player in this
special niche market as we move into the 21st Century.
